We start off with a bbq up there on Sugarloaf where Lake Maquarie Council has provided clean gas hotplates. Then when the sun goes down we head out for a drive on some of the local tails. Bring the sausages and chops and onions and bread rolls for dinner. All vehicles must have front and rear towing points, a snatch strap, and a UHF radio (straps and radios can be borrowed from the Queartermaster).
This is good four-wheel driving and it's not along way away, Wallaroo State Forest is the plan. It's a day of MEDIUM 4WD-ing with trip leader John Curtis, bring a picnic lunch and recovery gear. The ARB Warn Outback 4x4 Challenge is a highly popular 4wd event which since it's inception in 1999 has grown to be one of the toughest in the world. Each year in May more than 120 competitors from Australia and overseas put their highly modified four wheel drives through more than 25 special stages over nine days competing in the Australian Outback. We've booked the Millers Forest Hall for this event - it's out of the way but it's easy to get there, The beef and pork spitroast with side dishes and coffee and cake will be $5.00 per person (kids 5 and under eat for free).
